I’m currently using the new Trello beta interface, but I would prefer to work with the classic layout for improved usability and workflow familiarity. Could you please guide me on how to switch back to the old Trello design, if that option is still available?

@Juan Plaza Can you double check that in Chrome the following setting is turned on:

"Use graphics acceleration when available".  That setting is usually on by default but if you've turned it off for some reason that could negatively impact performance.  If you have turned it off would be curious to know why as well.

Additionally, are you using a virtual machine (VM) / virtualization technology by chance?  When using a VM hardware acceleration for animations is not available and can negatively impact performance.  If this is the case for you, we suggest setting an operating system setting for "prefers reduce motion" which should help.

I am so disappointed in the new design. I want the ability to switch back to how it was. Our business uses card buttons for 7-10 processes for EVERY order. With the new design, I now have to add one click to EVERY operation to click down below (so random of a UX) to show card buttons and then click on the button. I cannot tell you how much of a downgrade this design is to our operations. I do not want comments on the right taking up 50% of the card. I want the old layout where buttons were where they were so we can speed through our workflow.

So, I just discovered this (sorry, life's busy). Moving the comments section to the right of the Description is really disruptive to us. Repetitive motions involved in moving the mouse over to the right to add a comment (instead of just scrolling down), is hard on the wrist physically when performing this function many multiple times a day. We used to be able to move just below the description field to add a comment, which is how we communicate with each other on our cards.

Is there a way that you can make this an optional layout view?

So the update landed just before the biggest meeting of the week.  Thanks!

It's generally very poor but several things stand out as particularly annoying:

  1. The floating dock thing uses my precious vertical real estate and does not seem to be hideable.  I have my dock on the side for a reason.  Most people use widescreen monitors.
  2. Loads of things seem to now be hidden behind another click like changing boards or automation buttons
  3. If I snap the card to half screen width, all the card details disappear without yet another click of the dock thing.  I dread to think of how it will work with my portrait monitor.

 @Gaurav Kataria

We need a toggle to switch back to the old UI; this is so incredibly disruptive and may I repeat myself for the umpteenth time - NOT. INCLUSIVE. Come on, it's 2025. Either you know your platform is discriminatory and you don't care or you never bothered to research what it takes to create an inclusive product.

Here's a couple articles to get your team started: https://www.inclusionhub.com/articles/accessible-inclusive-digital-platforms-mental-health-disabilities

The new card layout is so cluttered now. It doesn't work well for focusing on filling out a card or for reading and commenting on one.

I don't know why anyone would hide all the actual functions in THREE different locations. Like if you're going to make every single thing pretty much take an extra click, at least put them all under ONE hidden button or menu, so I don't have to constantly pingpong between the three to figure out where you hid it this time.

I have seen and heard how much you all think we're all going to love these updates in time, but they're horrific for work but unavoidable. For the supposed personal planner use case, I used trello at home because it worked so well for me at work.

I will be building a new personal planner tool in airtable as best as I can because the new layout is a nightmare and does not work at all any better for personal planning and work processing than it does for work processing at work.

But based on your responses, that seems to be fine with you! I've concluded you bought your competition to get rid of it in the hopes we'll all move to Jira! Nice of you to admit it so that I can be very sure to avoid you and all of your products forevermore where I get a say in the tool I use. You have fully converted me from a trello evangelist to an ex-user as soon as I can get everything migrated off.

Congratulations. I think you've successfully figured out how to get rid of the inconvenient customers you don't actually want.

Não gostei dessa versão recente.. Prefiro o formato antigo. A aba de Comentários agora cobre 50% do cartão, sendo que nem utilizo. Essa foi um gol contra. Espero que revoguem ou que ofereçam a opção de deixar como era antes.

This new update is terrible, and it should be reverted or AT LEAST let us keep the option to have our classing view back.

How to revert back to the old look?

The new way to switching between the boards within one Workspace is soooooo uncomfortable, please make it stick to the side as before.

And the card layout is so uncomfortable and cluttered, I liked the structured old layout with comments at the bottom and the relevant stuff on the side.

Why the cover takes so much useful space on the screen?

!!! If you want to make it user-friendly, than make it adjustable entirely, so I can decide myself the placement of each sections and fields. !!!

If I could "dislike" those changes, I would! The removal of the navigation pane to the left is a step back! And the "new navigation bar" at the bottom of the screen is always in the way. Did you even test this before releasing? So annoyed!

These design changes are so bad my company has started the process of transitioning to a new PM system.

IF the design is going to change so radically, we might as well find a tool that actually works.

The failure to understand that this is a business tool and to treat it like it's a consumer app is asinine.

If anyone want to use the oldUI style I made a free script here:

@Gabriel Barbosa wow, thanks! The only part that updated for me is the card UI, but I'll take it. I really could not function with how they pushed the comments/conversation to the right side rather than beneath. Now if only the product owners could take a hint.

@SJ so you downloaded Tampermonkey and tried to do @Gabriel Barbosa's fix? The instructions are a bit too techy for me and I'm leery of trusting a stranger about downloading things. But it worked for you?

@Sherry Hunter , @SJ --We had TamperMonkey installed for other purposes, and installed the script as per instructions, but this didn't work for us (Chrome Version 138.0.7204.158, MacOS Ventura 13.6.7) on the desktop Trello is run on. We actually use the desktop app, not the browser version, but would have tried it out for a while if it had worked.

Sherry, Gabriel actually created pretty good instructions for downloading, you might consider giving it a try.

Why wasn't feedback incorporated about the way the new layout makes the lists so shallow you can only see one or two cards at a time? The new layout is awful. I don't use a kanban service to not be able to see what's on the boards. It's a total waste of screen estate. The whole world doesn't have 21" monitors. You had this feedback before forcing this godawful layout on everyone and you did nothing. And doing it to try to drive people to a different product fails to take into account that no one will trust you again to maintain a different service when you're already trying to strong-arm their choices by trashing this one. Hope you pay in lost subscriptions.

Victoria July 22, 2025

@Gabriel Barbosa Thank you very much for making the script and sharing it with everyone. It works well to restore the vertical card view for me in Firefox.

Is there a simple way to get it to remove the switcher that now fills space at the bottom of the screen (just remove it completely - I'm never going to use it) and make the lists deeper to use that extra space?

Even just removing the switcher would be better than the new layout. I don't know why they bothered doing a beta if they were just going to ignore all the feedback they already received telling them half of what they were doing was a bad idea, and impose it on everyone anyway. That development time could have been spent fixing things that are broken, not breaking things that made the site usable.

Worst change ever from Trello and Atlassian team ever! I just got new trello and I can't believe there is no option to see boards on the left and selling us that you cant go back is just lying to us.

Janne Puhto July 22, 2025

There is a way to get the left console of boards back but it is only for the admin users. We regular users can't get it back. Why is it so?
