Fortunately, my annual subscription has expired, allowing me to stop paying for this poorly conceived update. I tried to give Trello another try under a free trial, but the redesign is a no-go for my personal productivity workflow.
It is ironic that Atlassian based the new redesign to focus on personal productivity users but managed to create a suboptimal workflow for them as well. There are many better ways in which the new Inbox and Planner features could have been implemented without ruining the other aspects that made Trello a highly useable service. Based on my experience with Jira, I do not believe it will be a viable alternative for most Trello users.
For now, I transitioned to ClickUp for personal productivity, as I already have a subscription for business-related projects. Either Asana, Monday, or Todoist will be my long-term option.
@Sherry Hunter there is no reversion back to the old Trello. Atlassian is full steam ahead on turning it into something different, despite user feedback.
If we *must* have the floating widget, at least move it to the side and remove all the vertical space above and below the cards. Cards are almost unusable on small laptop screens with not much vertical space.
