Using the cloud version, pretty new to it as well.

One issue that we are experiencing is that child-issues are not that "in your face", i.e. sometimes a ticket is closed even-though work still remains to be done on the child issues.

Looking for a way to block parent ticket to change status to done before all child issues are resolved.

Would find it logical if there was an option in the 'restrict to when a field is a specific value' rule. selecting child issue NOT done. But i can't find any feature like that.

how should i go about configuring the workflow to fullfil this?

Hello @Frans Jernelöv

Welcome to the community.

Are you working with issues in a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project? It will say which it is at the bottom of the navigation pane on the left.

In a Company Managed project you could do this with a workflow transition Condition called "Sub-task Blocking Condition".

I don't see a similar capability in the Workflow Rules for Team Managed projects. I have not yet found a change request for this, but your Jira Admin could open a support request with Atlassian to find out if such a change request exists.

@Frans Jernelöv

The Team Managed project functionality was developed after the Company Managed project functionality. Not all features available in Company Managed projects have been ported to Team Managed projects. Some features might be scheduled for implementation in the future, while some may never be ported.

I would encourage you to ask your Jira Admin to contact Atlassian Support to find out if this specific feature is in their backlog for implementation in the future. I am not an Atlassian Team Member so I don't have full visibility into their backlog and implementation plans.

hi @Trudy Claspill and thanks for the info.

Seems like we are in a Team Managed project. so no luck.

Although I see this as quite a basic feature, and as you do seem to have some sort of solution for Company Managed projects so why not for Team Managed??

I will bring this to our Jira admins attention and put in a ticket on it.

cheers!
