When providing an update to a project and tagging/mentioning an individual, why are they not receiving the email? Emails are received when tagging the individual in the Comments, but mentions in the Updates field are not triggering an email to notify them.

In Jira, email notifications for @mentions are triggered only from Comments.

The Updates or any  field is designed for status sharing and visibility, not for direct notifications. Because of this, @mentions in Updates are highlighted but do not send emails. This is expected behavior and cannot be changed via notification settings.

To ensure someone receives an email, mention them in a comment (or use automation as a workaround).

Hi @Fechner_ Viviana

What is the "Updates" field in your space?  Is it a custom paragraph field in a Team-managed project (TMP)?

If so, I do not believe mentions in those fields send notifications.

Kind regards,
Bill
