why do some issues have a star in Jira sprint report dashbboard

after stories are completed and we generate a sprint report, some issues are starred.
Why?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The star symbol in those issues (*) means that the issues were added after the beginning of the sprint, as described in the "Understanding the Sprint report" section of this documentation:

Issues added after the sprint starts are indicated with an asterisk.

This feature is used to better display for you the amount of work that was not initially planned for that Sprint.

How precise is the sprint start? Is the time taken into account?

 

I am just looking at an example that indicates, only the date is relevant. Can someone confirm this?
