what is capability of Jira Portal?

Hi, 

I am interested in making a Jira Portal for supplier management. 

Apart from preparing predefined forms, what else portal can do?

Can we add documents for suppliers? Or should it be linked to Confluence?

As what I have seen is to leverage confluence for documents. The portal view and configuration has a place to point your knowledge base to a confluence space.
