weight field required

Hi, have question about Weight field in Jira. 

We mostly don't use weight in our projects, but it's required field in Global permission. Want to change it to optional. What will happen, or what kind of problems we could have in future?

Following are some virtual inference and possibilities

• You may not have the data in the weight field where it is really required. 
• Once you make it optional , and start using it and if for some reason you are making that as mandatory field again , then for the tickets created during this time period that has lapsed in between you wont be able to get the data from that field. 
• When you make it mandatory you are liable to receive some false values in the filed which might be of no use to your requirements. 
• While using any Jql query with this filed you may find it hard to sort thing from the issue filter results. 

These are some of the possible issues that may arise , But remember there is always some solution for each and every problem. So if your need of the hour is to make it Optional you may pursue with that. 

Also looking other perspective from community people on this.

I've find how to solve problem which i had now. But again, it's interesting reason of making it required as global rule.
