upgrading jira server 7.9.2 to 8.20 required support of database/requirement

Planning to move Jira server to datacenter....can we update the licence key to the server..it will work or not

Yes, Datacenter License key will always support on Server Instance to upgrade, and that is the only possible way as server is not supported by Atalssian any more.
