in jira 4.2.2 inheritance worked with the same fields and values using create and link option. We are curently preparing tu upgrade to jira 4.4.5 and inheritance is not working and showing error on the issue creation page:
Invalid value '2-High' passed for customfield 'Severity'. Allowed values are: 10036[1-Critical], 10037[2-High], 10038[3-Low], -1
There are issues with 4.4.3 version of the plugin. Package the most recent version from trunk as there are some new fixes committed since the last release 4.4.3. Now eveything looks ok.
You will need to look up the correct Option for the value 2-High.
Not really sure what you mean by inheritance though, this is a plugin you're using? If so maybe there's a more up to date version.

This is related to Jira Create and Link Plugin. When we try to create a child issue using 'Create and Link' option which is under 'More Actions' option, the new issue will be populated with the existing values of the parent issue which i referred as inheritance.

You should put a question on the plugin page. There are also other plugins that offer the same functionality, eg this is one of the built-in scripts in the script runner plugin.
