For some users when the use the +Create button at the top of the page (next to search). the description content they type in is being lost.

It seems to be limited to a single user ... we've he's an Admin in the space so we don't believe its a permissions issue.

Hello @Spencer Hudson

Does it clear when you change the project or issue type, when you expand to the full form, or only after you click Create?

I see it like that:

  1. Description survives in Full Form but not Quick Create - strongly isolates the modernized Simple Create experience.
  2. Description disappears when switching project/work type - likely form-state/re-render behavior.
  3. Description is visible until Create, but the created work item has an empty Description - submission/payload issue; inspect the request and escalate.

Test creating the work item using the full form. If text is retained there, the user can click More actions (…) > Always open in this view as a temporary workaround so you don't need to disable Quick Create site-wide.

When the issue persists in incognito for only this user in Quick Create, open a ticket with Atlassian Support. A quick screen recording showing the exact moment the text disappears will help them investigate. There is a lot of drama with "New View," and as far as i know, Atlassian is working on that.

Best,

Arek🤠

Hi @Spencer Hudson

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Since this is affecting only one user and they can still create the work item, I agree it doesn’t look like a permissions problem. The screen in your screenshot is Jira Cloud’s newer Quick Create experience, but losing the Description text isn’t expected behavior.

I’d first have the affected user test in an incognito window or another browser. If it works there, I’d clear the cache and temporarily disable browser extensions, since this points more toward a browser/session-specific issue.

It’s also worth testing whether expanding Quick Create into the full create form avoids the problem. If the Description is retained there but lost only in Quick Create, that would help isolate the issue.

Hello @Spencer Hudson

Keep in mind that this is a new work item creation experience. Let that use try in different browser and incognito mode.
