"User Unique ID Attribute" used for Deleted / Recreated accounts

The help for "User Unique ID Attibute" is "The attribute field to use for tracking user identity across user renames" which is self explanatory.

However, can anyone confirm if it is also used for when deleted accounts are re-created.

We use objectGUID as "User Unique ID Attribute" and sAMAccountName as our "User Name Attribute".  What should happen if we:

• create a user with sAMAccountName "JonDoe"
• a few weeks later the person leaves so we delete their account
• a few weeks later we create a new account with sAMAccountName "JohnDoe" objectGUID) for a new person who happens to have the same name 

I would expect JIRA to NOT link the two accounts.  However, we are finding that when the new user logs in, they are associated with the old account.
