Hi there,
Is it possible to create a group of user who refers to several users.
And to @mention them ?
Ex : I type "@Admin" and John, Bob & Sarah who are all Admin will receive a Jira notification.
Hi There,
We've created Mention Groups for Jira to address problem for Jira Cloud. If you're interested, feel free to have a look and try it out.
Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated.
All the best,
Gabe
Plugin Vault Team
Hello,
i know it is an old post but maybe it will help someone.
I have created a plugin to mention user groups in Jira within the @user mention.
The plugin is called: User Mention Groups and has just been released in a new improved version (3.0.0) for Jira9.
With this plugin, each user/administrator can create their own mention groups and add them to an issue in the ticket details or in the comments using the @mention function. The group name is automatically replaced by the group members, as if all users were entered individually.
In addition, administrators can create global groups that can be used by all users in Jira.
Or you can give different users the authorization to create global groups.
If groups are only to be used via global group assignments (creation via tickets), the admin can deactivate the "Own groups" function for the users.
If you want to inform all users at the same time, you can also use Jira system groups. By default, only administrators can use the system groups, but the option can also be activated for all users.
Yours sincerely
Daniel

If you have Advanced Road Maps you can create Virtual Teams (Plan based and global teams) that can be mentioned. I'm not sure if ARM is out of the box with premium license. this is how we do it with Cloud Jira.

Is it possible to have an Outlook email address that is a Distribution List (DL) of multiple emails, then add that email to Jira access to use that DL in the Mentions?

Yes, that works and it's what we do.. of course it's suboptimal as the DL group is managed completely independently of Jira/Atlassian plus it has no direct real tie-in to logical users within your Jira/Atlassian products, but it "does the job" until Atlassian develop this well deserving feature

Hi Murielle and welcome to the Community. There is no way to do this OOTB. I found this one addon - Mentions & Watchers - that is available for Server/Datacenter but not Cloud.

for cloud I did not find an addon but you can have a look maybe there is a solution out there. I have never considered this before but see where it could be useful.

In Cloud you can simply create a Team in Jira. Add the members there, and your @ mention will work by team.
From menu:
People -> Create Team -> Name team -> Add members
Then @ mention team name will @ mention them as a macro sorta. It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing.
