jira 9.2 just hangs on install

Trying to run the jira linux 64 bit 9.2 package and it just hangs. No errors, it just sits. Is there a way to turn on verbose output msgs or something?

I've done many upgrades in the past and we're currently on 8.2. Never had an issue before.

OK, interesting. If I don't run this as root, sudo ./atlassian-jira-software-9.2.0-x64.bin

It starts the install. I don't want to do that since it won't start as a service.

Any ideas?
