Hello,

Our company have JIRA 6.2 and we are considering to upgrade to JIRA software 7.1.2. Can we upgrade directly from JIRA 6.2 to 7.1.2 or we need to go to another minor version as 6.4 then to 7.1.2?

Also which upgrade process is better:

  1. Install new JIRA 7.1.2 then import database from 6.2 (XML backup)?
  2. Use upgrade function:  Upgrade an existing JIRA installation in atlassian-jira-software-7.1.2-jira-7.1.2-x64.bin file

You can upgrade directly. And you can use the upgrade function (#2) as it does backups and show modified files etc.

I would recommend you to test the upgrade in a test environment.
