how to prevent logging work on a closed/resolved issue

Ben America
February 20, 2022

So we use 2 status in our Jira Service Management, 'Resolved' and 'Closed'.

When an issue goes to 'Resolved' and within a week there is no reply from customer, it will automatically goes to 'Closed'.

I want to prevent our staffs from logging work when the ticket is in 'Resolved' or 'Closed' status.

I already set up property in 'Resolved' and 'Closed' status of jira.permission.work.denied = denied and then i publish it.

Now, when a ticket is in 'Closed' i can no longer log hour, however, i can still log work when issue is in 'Resolved'

Please help me, am i missing something?

We are using Jira 8.16.1 (Server) Build No 816001

Hi Ben,

What you did looks good. I would check that the properties were saved properly.

it this saved properly Fabian. and it is publish as well - otherwise i think it wont work too for 'Closed' status.

But its soo weird that people can still log work when issue status 'Resolved' but they cannot when issue status 'Closed'

Am i missing something here?

I applied the same property for both status (jira.permission.work.denied = denied)

Check that you applied it to a status and not on the transition property. A common mistake that people make.

If you still have issues open a ticket with atlassian support.

Hi @Ben America !

Agree with Fabian, you need to add status property - How to restrict Log Work on a specific status .

as per picture, you can see i already add the status property. however, i still can add work for issue with status 'Resolved'

Bear in mind, like i said before that i can not log work anymore for issue with status 'Closed'. so this clearly work for the status 'Closed' but not for 'Resolved'

both status is in category 'Done'

and i already publish the workflow change as well.
