hello all, I'm new here and this is my first post.
We are planning to migrate from Asana to Jira and I found this importer add-on in Market place:
I downloaded a .jar file but not sure what to do with it? My Windows 10 OS doesn't know which app to use to install it.
Did anyone manage to install this importer and use it?
I tried csv import, it was successful, but lot of the information got lost, no attachments are imported and it is very poor.
Would love to hear any idea on how to go about this
Thanks
So it appears you are on cloud. The importer addon you are referencing appears to be for server so unsure how it might perform when trying to import into a cloud instance.
Thanks Jack, Nic wrote the same.
I'm copying my further question from my reply to Nic, would love your answer
Do you know if the tool actually works in a server/dc setting? Do the tasks from Asana go through in full to the right place including attachments?
I'm trying to understand if it's worth the effort, as if the tool is not that great, I might do it manually, we only have a couple hundreds incomplete tasks to transfer across

Welcome Ellie,
I am sorry, but this is not a simple subject. Jira essentially has two "flavours" - server/dc and cloud. You have found an "app" for server/dc, which you could use to feed into the server/dc "upload app" option. But you have tagged this question with Cloud, so I suspect you are using Cloud. Cloud can't use server/dc apps, and this particular one only has a server version, so I suspect you are stuck.
I think the only way you're going to find this useful is to set up a Jira server/dc with a temporary licence, use the importer plugin to get your data into that, and then look at how to merge that into your cloud system.

Thanks so much Nic for your quick response.

Yes, the importer works as documented on Server/DC, I used it a few weeks ago,
