We have a JIRA agile package and we need to be able to group the issues in the backlog and sprint based on the customer requested?

As Jose suggested, use a custom field to capture the customer and then create quick filters for each customer on the board. That will help you see each customer easily in the different modes on the board.

The use of a custom field with the customers as an option to select (or multi-select), should help to handle it.
