how to enable 'click to fix period'

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
As above pic, i could see option for 'Click to fix period' for some task, which i can trace its changes indicated in yellow
However for many other tasks, there was no option for 'Click to fix period' and i wonder how to do in order to show 'Click to fix period' option for tracing purpose and how to remove its trace as well
