how to count resolved issues

how we can count the resolved or created issues in JIRA in specified interval of time.

for example issue created in last 24 hours.

what is the query for that?

For resolved:

Save it as a filter. You can see the count either in issue navigator or you can show it in the dashboard using filter gadgets.
