how to configure Custom approval Field in custom work type in Jira cloud - Team managed board?

Hi, we have created an Ops Project / Space and introduced a new Access Request work item type in Jira, which users can use to raise access-related requests. Before the assigned developer begins work on these requests, we want them to be approved by a designated group of approvers.

To support this, we would like to add a Custom Approver field with two dropdown options:

Manager Group (a group of 3–4 managers)

Architect Group (a group of architects)

Based on the selected option, the request should be routed for approval to the corresponding group and Email notification to be sent to these members in the group
Could you please advise on how to configure this approval mechanism in Jira cloud - Team managed board?

Are you able to look into third-party apps? With your requirements, a flexible and customizable solution may be Approval Path for Jira. It allows you to build dynamic, multi-step approvals.
Or look into similar apps, such as Herzum's Approvals or Easy Approval for Jira.

I have some additional questions:

• Do both groups need to approve or is it only one of them? 
• What type of field are you thinking of using (single or multiple user pricker)
• Do you need to verify that the user in the approver group is really member of the intended group?

To be honest I don't think you have the possibility to resolve this in a team managed project since the workflow editor is a bit limited compared to workflows in Company managed projects.

Do you have the option to migrate to a Company managed project?
