how to add items to category field of a space?

I had earlier created category entries of a project in jira. its a drop down. but im not able to find the way to add more values to it. the field is showing locked when i go to space settings.

can someone help please?

Hello @Sanyam Kaushik 

What is the space type with which you are working? Click the ... button next to the Space name and tell us what it says in the last two lines in the pop-up. That will be something like

Business space
Company-managed

If it is a Business space, then guidance for adding Category values can be found here:

Could you provide details on specifically where you are going within Space Settings to make this adjustment?  

Also is this a Team Managed or Company Managed space?

its business space/team managed. thanks it worked now.
