H, @Aditi_Awasthi ðŸ‘‹

You should be able to delete the attachment directly from the Jira issue, provided you have the right permissions.

Try this:

  1. Open the Jira issue
  2. Find the Attachments section
  3. Hover over the attachment you want to remove
  4. Click the trash/bin icon

A couple of things to check if you don’t see the delete option:

  • If you uploaded the attachment yourself, you need the Delete Own Attachments permission.
  • If someone else uploaded it, you need the Delete All Attachments permission.
  • If the attachment was added through a comment or field, you may need to remove it from that comment/field instead of the attachment panel.
  • If the issue is in a locked/closed workflow status, the workflow may also prevent edits.

Atlassian's documentation explains the steps here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/delete-an-attachment-on-an-issue/

Hope this helps! 😊

Hi @Brita Moorus Thanks for your reply. I can confirm I uploaded these attachments, and that I do not have permission to delete my own attachments.

Could you please guide how to gain access to delete my own attchments please?

Hi @Aditi_Awasthi, Brita's steps are spot on — you're just blocked on the permission, and that's not something you can switch on for yourself. "Delete Own Attachments" is set in the project's permission scheme, which only a Jira admin can edit. So you'll need to ask your Jira/site admin to add your project role to the Delete Own Attachments permission for CLMIA-59165's project. Once that's granted, the trash icon on the files you uploaded will work as Brita described. Reference: Delete an attachment.
