how can i restrict specific group to edit issue depending for it's status

i want to allow specific group or roles in the project (ex. PO), to edit tasks before task will be in specific status (ex. In progress). how can i achieve this result?

You can use Workflow Properties on each status (step) in the workflow to override the project permissions.  Look for the jira.permission property.
