Did you mean:

how can I get access to my jira domain, my account is active BUT Jira doesn't think so?

I have a Jira domain that I used to use 3 years ago.  I am the sole user and yet I see this when I log in:

Looks like your administrator has marked your account <<REDACTED>> as inactive. Contact your administrator to solve this issue.

As I am the sole user I cannot contact the administrator as I am the administrator.  How can I get access to that Jira domain again?  I am not fussed about hostory I just want access to create new tickets.

Neither are applicable.  I CAN login to my account - but the Jira system is not available

Hi @Rick

Welcome to the Community!

It sounds like you ran into the "sole administrator" lockout. This typically happens when a site has been inactive for an extended period.

Since you haven't logged in for 3 years, your Jira instance has likely been deactivated due to inactivity. Atlassian periodically deactivates and eventually deletes Free sites that haven't been used to ensure we are providing the best experience for active teams. You can read more about how this works in our documentation here: Track storage and move data across apps | Atlassian Support.

How to resolve this:

Since you mentioned you aren't concerned about the historical data and just want to start creating new tickets, you have two main paths forward:

  1. The Fastest Way: Create a New Instance
The quickest way to get back to work is to simply sign up for a brand-new Jira instance. You can use the same email address, but you will need to choose a slightly different site name (e.g., yourname-new.atlassian.net). You can start a new site here: Jira Free: Get Jira Software for Free | Atlassian.

  2. The Recovery Way: Contact Our Support Team
If you specifically want to reclaim your original domain name or investigate that specific account, you’ll need to speak with our Customer Advocates to verify your ownership. You can reach them through this contact form:

Our team will be able to look into the backend status of that specific domain and let you know if it can be reactivated or if it has already been purged from the system.

Hope this helps you get back to your projects quickly!

Best,
Samuil
