hi,

I frequently get the jira alert about an extensive storage usage due to too many or too big attachments.

Q1: how can I identify jira tickets with huge attachments?

Q2: is there any dedicated cleanup function to cleanup attachments of tickets?

best regards, thanks

stephen

@AtNovus Not a complete solution, but some options:

As a first step, I would just list the Issues with an attachment for review

project = CM AND attachments is NOT EMPTY

You can also look at add-on tools such as JXL to display issue size in the filter.

Hi!

I have created free Python tool for scanning Jira Data Center (on premise) attachments and show full insight in attachment data: https://www.drinkits.lv/2025/10/28/analyzing-and-cleaning-your-jira-data-center-attachments-python-tool/

I have also create Cloud (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/2464899201/attachment-architect) app which focuses on:

  • Finding large attachments first, grouped by project and age (old + large = quick wins).
  • Removing exact duplicates (keep canonical) and trash files
