how do I export my data? After trying for a week I can't get Jira to stop spamming me with emails. I've opted out of every possible notification including setting " don't send me email notifications" and it doesn't help or change anything and at this point I just need to export my data so that I can use a product that provides controls over emails that you receive.
Hi @Dan Price
There's several different types of email notifications - with actions you can take to limit/reduce them if preferred.
This help page is a good starting point for understanding notifications.
---
Issue Activity Notifications
You can decide to not receive email notifications in some circumstances via your personal settings.
You can turn on/off notifications here for Issue Activities you're involved in - eg. Assignee, Reporter, etc.
As mentioned in your Personal Settings:
You may also receive other email notifications like those configured by your Jira admin and updates for filter subscriptions.
Some more options below will help you limit emails further
---
Project Notifications
You can configure what Notifications you receive from your Jira Projects.
When creating a Project from a standard template, it usually adds the "Default Notification Scheme", which sends email notifications for pretty much every event. You can modify this to limit it to only important events, or turn them off altogether!
That way you can limit the number of emails you receive, especially if they're not beneficial for you.
You can see how to manage Notifications on these help pages:
---
Other Notifications
Other Notifications you might be receiving could include a whole range of things from Atlassian directly, including Newsletters, Product Recommendations, Tech Alerts, etc.
You can unsubscribe from some of these emails using the links provided in the email body - or manage most of them via this page: https://preferences.atlassian.com/

Backup/Export
If you're still keen to move to another Issue Tracker - there are several methods to move your data across:
---
As a final note, I would recommend giving Jira a chance - it does take some time/effort to learn how to administer it, and get the most out of it, but once you do it is very powerful/flexible for different ways of working.
You might also find other problems with other tools and still have to learn how to resolve them. Unless this is a showstopper which cannot be resolved, I'd look at whether limiting notifications helps enhance your experience with Jira first :)

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Jira doesn't have a "don't send me email notifications" function, so I am not sure that you are actually looking at Jira here.
Jira sends emails out based on the project settings, one type of project uses shared "notification schemes" to have common "send email to X when Y happens" and another type does it individually. If you are getting too much email from Jira, talk to the administrators of the projects, ask them to turn off the emails. (Jira is far too email happy by default, your admins will not find your ask unusual)
To export your data, take a backup. It won't be of any use to another system without you having to do a load of transformation work.
Or export the issues to a spreadsheet. You will lose data such as the history and comments, but I don't know of an issue tracker that can't import the basic core issue data from a spreadsheet

I had already unchecked/disabled every option I could find including don't send me email notifications for issue activity and disable watch your issues. none of it helps and the system continued to send me emails until yesterday where any action I took would pop up a box telling me I exceeded the email limit and I needed to pay to upgrade. having to click close each time in order to be able to continue working in Jira is frustrating. having the system automatically send out large volumes of email even when a user is opted out as a pretense to try and upsell is ridiculous. I exported the data to CSV and deleted the Jira project(s)

You will need to talk to your admins about the notification schemes, as Stephen said.
