does anyone know how to auto start and finish a sprint in a scrum?

Hello @martin nurse
What problem are you trying to solve by automating those processes?
Do you allow multiple sprints to run in parallel?
What would anticipate happening with issues that were not completed in the sprint you are automatically finishing?
As far as I know there is no native option for that in Jira Cloud. And Automation Rules for Jira Cloud does not include Action to Start and Stop sprints.
In another post I saw this third party app mentioned as a possible solution:
Hi @Trudy Claspill Thanks for the update i was trying to automate the start and finish sprints for my job. i will try this solution.

Hi @martin nurse, you can also try Auto Sprint Start Stop by PgM Innovations to automate sprint start and stop for 100s of boards at the same time. At the time of sprint closure, decide whether the open issue gets moved to the backlog or the next sprint. If the next sprint doesn't exist, the app will create one for you.
Hi @Trudy Claspill... FYI :)

@PgM Innovations Support Team , if you're part of a Marketplace App team, we would like to ask you to follow the steps outlined here to get an 'Atlassian Partner' lozenge for your profile! Cheers!

Hi @SilkeS, just applied for it. Meanwhile, I have added it to my profile and will make sure to post it in the comments as well.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I find it almost unfathomable that this is not a built in option. One could easily tell the system what to do when completing a sprint -> move items to next sprint and/or backlog.
I figured out how to do this via api calls and automation. I now have a working auto start and stop sprint set of rules that moves the unfinished items to the next sprint.
Thanks
