How do I delete an issue

Select delete from the actions menu

You'll need to have the right permission in that project, to delete, and we usually strongly recommend not deleting issues as they're totally destroyed, no recovery possible without backups.

To build on Nic's answer; the forum is full of people asking how to recover a deleted issue. It WILL come back to bite you. I suggest having a resolution of 'Deleted' and close the issue to that with a comment as to why it was deleted. JIRA WILL NOT REUSE the issue number so there will be a missing number in the project that may raise questions simply by being missing.
