custom swimlane groups

is there any way to create swimlanes automatically based on a field value without manually creating one for each of the possible values. i.e. i have a field with project number and the project numbers could be 100 to 299 for example i can't make a custom query for each as that would mean making 200 custom queries which is not practical.

Hi @Hiren and welcome to the Community!

If you want to create swimlanes on something different than the predefined / preset dynamic options offered in the swimlanes section of a board, I am afraid not. Query based swimlanes are a flexible alternative (technically), but does not scale very well if you indeed have dozens (or more) of options.

On the other hand - you might also wonder if having 200 swimlanes in a board would be a user friendly experience in real life as well (not as an excuse for the dynamic feature not being there, but just a consideration).

hi, thank you, i thought that might be the answer.

In reality all 200 would not be shown, as there are other filters, i.e. per current owner, but as each owner might have things in several project numbers, I wanted to make it easier to see all the tasks in that project in a nice easy view, may just have to get users to make their own views which they will have to keep changing based on the project numbers they are working (rarely changes unless someone leaves, etc!)
