What do you mean by "notifications"?

I'm asking because you've used a specific word and it's worth being clear in this case. Jira has a language/jargon of its own, like most software, and "notifications" is one of the words that has a very specific meaning in Jira-world. It refers to the system that sends emails to users.

So, if the Mac Mountain Lion Notification system pops up messages when emails arrive, then yes, it's technically already done.

However, if you read your question in plain non-Jira English, then I suspect what you're asking is for Jira to directly poke data at your Mac, not via emails?

If so, then no, I don't think there's a direct easy connection, but it's not hard to create something. Jira fires "events" when things happen to issues. Off-the-shelf, the Jira-notification system pings out emails when events happen, but you can add other things to that. A while ago, I worked at a place where we used Jabber notifications (Jira event happens, it publishes it on Jabber). Another place posts things in IRC. I imagine thats' the sort of thing you want to get your Mac to do?
