Are you looking to add a checkbox field to your issue-type task. if that's the case you can create a custom field checkbox and add it to the screens of the projects.

Hi @Dirk Marais , if you are asking for adding a checklist then you will need an addon app as that feature is not native to Jira. There are several option in the Marketplace to consider.
