Selecting option "None" for the "Time Tracking" in the "Estimation" tab of the Board settings, as was suggested by @Iason Filippopoulos, helped me as well

It does work in the Backlog however.

I had the same problem. In the time tracking you must check none.

Are you sure the board is configured to use Story Points for estimation? If so, it looks like the estimates are empty.
