Working with Translations

Hallo everbody,

I'm a little bit confused about Translations. What I think is the following:

- I can choose a Language Pack

- The Language Pack translates the Name of System Fields (all?) and their Descriptions

- I can override this translation with a custom value, but only for Issue Type, Priority, Status and Resolution - even Field Name and Description?

Is this correct so far? So my questions are:

1) What about Custom Field Names? Can I translate them?

2) Is it possible to translate Field Values? For System Fields and/or Custom Fields?
