Hello everyone,
I've been working hard lately toward becoming an Atlassian Champion, and honestly, I've been really happy and proud of this journey. But I just discovered something that caught me off guard: you need to be 21 or older to become a Champion, and I'm still 20 (I turned 20 this past March).
I'll admit it made me a little sad at first. But honestly, I'm happy either way. I just posted my first video on YouTube and it already has 76 views since last night, and so many people from the Atlassian Community liked it on LinkedIn. Being part of this community has changed everything for me, and I'm truly thankful.
So I wanted to ask: has anyone been in a similar situation with the age requirement? Is there a way I could reach out to Atlassian directly to share what I've been doing, or is waiting until I'm eligible simply the only option?
Any advice or experience would mean a lot. And regardless of the answer, I'm not giving up, I'll keep learning, creating, and contributing.
Thank you all so much
I'm curious about where you saw the age of 21 mentioned. As a Champion myself, I checked the program guidelines and found only the minimum age, which is 16 years old, based on the Atlassian Community platform terms of use. Since you're 20, you're definitely eligible to apply!
Feel free to check out the official program guidelines at https://champions.atlassian.net/wiki/ to see what Atlassian looks for in an application. Keep up the great work with your content and community contributions, and don't hesitate to go ahead and apply!
Cheers, Martin
Hi @Martin Runge , thank you so much, this genuinely made my day
To answer your question: I saw the age of 21 while I was in the process of submitting my application, it appeared as a requirement during one of the steps. That's what discouraged me, so I'm really relieved to hear the actual minimum is 16.
One small thing: I think I don't have access to the guidelines link you shared (https://champions.atlassian.net/wiki/),
Thank you again for checking the guidelines and for the encouragement, it means a lot

good luck with the process, I'm not familiar with the rules of becoming a champion but keep making content, helping people, and being active in the community. Those contributions won't go to waste.
if you can't apply now, it will compound for an even stronger case, next year
