Without using gadgets, how can i know or rather represent the total effort of stories in my dashboar

I have a filter for all the user stories that I have created for project I am working on. All these stories are in different statuses with different effort estimation.

Without the help of a gadget, can I some how by using a function or something, calculate the sum of all the efforts of user stories I created under a particular label.

Without gadgets, you will need to look at reports instead, which are usually limited to the board or project you are looking at.
