Hi All,

will the  "'epic-link' replaced with 'parent'" feature come to the Jira Datacenter (On Premise) version ?

I Only find informations regarding the cloud version:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/upcoming-changes-epic-link-replaced-with-parent/

Best Regards

@Erich Riegler ,

I would sincerely hope so. It was such a breath of fresh air when the change was applied in my previous cloud instance. So much more clarity, uniformity, no more needing to explain users the difference ;)

The roll-out is still not completed though, as fields like 'Epic Link' still exist in Cloud, but with a notice that you should use the 'Parent' field instead. I believe they are going to remove it sometime soon...

It would make sense to prepare DC for the same change eventually, as it would simplify all moves to cloud (and would bring the same benefit/value/clarity as it did for Cloud). But, looking at the suggestion page (https://jira.atlassian.com/issues/?jql=project%20%3D%20JRASERVER%20AND%20text%20~%20%22epic%20link%20parent%22%20ORDER%20BY%20created%20DESC) I don't see any clear tickets for it yet. Maybe they want to get rid of all the bugs/issues they might have had in Cloud before implementing it in DC versions, as it's much more difficult to release fixes for DC if something would really break.
