Why would a JIRA issue show different epics when viewed from a board and from issue detail?

I have a handful of JIRA issues which display Epic A when I review the team board.  Any other view of the issue (Issue detail, edit issue, etc) shows Epic B, which is actually correct.  When I edit the issue and delete Epic A, then edit again and add Epic B, then go back to my board, it invariably reverts back to Epic A.  Has anyone seen this problem?  Why might this happen?

Hi @Heather Courtney 

This sound like a difference between the lucene indexing and the database. Can you run a reindex as administrator?

report tend to use index data. Issue screens come from the database.

The gray epic on the right is the correct epic, and it shows on every screen this way, except on the backlog, which shows the orange epic on the left.

Agree with Tom below - see if a re-index will solve it.
