Why when filtering out sub-tasks from the Scrum Board does it not display in issue view?

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
For my scrum board I only wanted to only display stories so I followed the advice of others to customize a filter to not include sub-tasks. Great that worked! But now when viewing an issue in the right panel it gives me this...
Ideally, I'd like to not show sub-tasks on the scrum board but I would like to see them in the quick view.
Any advice?

Can you please confirm if you are using JIRA Server or Cloud?
On JIRA Cloud And new versions of Server, the Issue detail view display sub-tasks just fine although it is been filtered by the board filter:
