Why the Backlog Epics View Breakdown doesn't match a portfolio view of the same epic ?

I am having a hard time understanding if what I see in my backlog EPIC detailed view doesn't match what I see in the portfolio plan for that same epic ?  I see 25 issues 23 completed, 1 unestimated, and 56 estimates, shouldn't I be seeing those same numbers in portfolio view ?  Please help me understand.  Thanks,
