Why tasks appear unassigned although I set assignee field in each task ?

So it appears that you have a custom field called "assignees". Note this is plural. I suspect someone may have created a multi-select user field. There is of course the default "Assignee" field that is singular and is what drives those avatars.

Thanks that was actually the issue...but how to display multiple assignees after task creation....it does pop up if it's the default assignee field but that is not the case with the custom field.
