Why some of the epics displayed in row without epic

Viktor Khodasevych November 19, 2023

I have a few epics and somehow some of them are displayed in chapters with issues without epics. See the screenshot

Hi @Viktor Khodasevych and welcome to the Community!

Just by the issue type icons, it seems as the issues in the bottom part of your screen are epics. Epics can't have a parent epic and so they can't be displayed as child issues of other epics.

From the top part of your screen, it seems you have defined swimlanes by epics on your board. My guess is that the epics in the lower part of the screen don't have any child issues, which my explain why they are not in separate swimlanes.

If that does not explain your issue, please share screenshots of your board configuration. It is very hard to evaluate where your configuration may be lacking if you don't share how it is set up.

Hope this helps!

Hi, @Walter Buggenhout
Thank you for the explanation.
Actually, there is a swimlane "issues without epics" at the bottom.
Epics that are in the section without epics have attached tasks.
I'm attaching screenshots of the board settings and the epic itself for example

Yes. Are the issues from epic JOB-1418 in Sprint 20? On another note: why are you adding epics to a sprint? That is quite uncommon, to say the least (I am referring to JOB-1418 and JOB-1421 from your screenshot specifically).

Now everything is working. I just have deleted sprint from the Epics. I will not assign sprints to Epics in the future. Thank you!
