Why is pass status for previously run test cases shown in story coverage?

My organization has just started implementing Xray. One of our teams noticed that when they add a test case (eg. regression), which has previously been passed, to the coverage section of a user story the Pass status will show in coverage. That is until a sub-test execution is created where it will be changed to 'To do'. If the PO takes a look at the progress before a sub-test execution has been added to the user story, he/she will get the impression that test cases that have been added for the current sprint have also passed for the current sprint.

How can a distinction be made so we avoid this possible confusion?
