Why does JIRA Export export all details of every issue when exporting to Word

When selecting html or csv I can export all issues  in the results list as a list with the columns I have stipulated. When selecting Word all issues with all details including all comments (not just the columns I have selected) is exported at one issue per page. have repeated this in Chrome and Edge.

It's just not been coded that way.  Atlassian never got enough people to ask for anything more configurable than "dump everything into a word doc"
