On Jira ticket.
Enter some text in description.
This is text.
Paste a link.

Hit enter and type more text.
This is text.
More text.
Place cursor at end of line 2's link.
Type space and more text.
The space and text are now part of the link.
In other "macros" in description, I can hit right arrow to get out of it and back to normal text. This cannot be done with links - it takes me to the next line. I am constantly having to "convince" Jira to do what I want by typing the text on a new line then removing the new line, so Jira doesn't connect the new text to the existing link.
So annoying.
Hey Derek,
I've gone through our open bug reports and didn't find mention of this particular issue. While improvements are made to the editor regularly, I'd like to make sure I totally understand the behavior you're seeing. Which version of Jira Server are you currently on?
I ran the following on a Jira 8.7.1 instance:
As you can see in the gif, a few things happen:
If the behavior I show above is how you're expecting it to work, hopefully just upgrading your Jira instance will get you this behavior! 8.7.1 was released in February - since then we've also released 8.8.0.
In the meantime, one potential workaround is flipping to the 'Text' tab to escape the WYSIWYG editor. It's very clear in the markup where the links stop, and clicking at the end of the line will definitely get you "outside" the link in text mode.
Cheers,
Daniel
We upgraded to 8.8.0 and I can no longer reproduce. Thanks.

I want to chime in on this, as well, because lately I'm working far more with Jira then previously, and this..GAAAAAHHHHH!
The kludgenhacken is new paragraph, type more text on next line, then delete the paragraph to bring it back up, but come on, Atlassian! Why was this not already resolved? This is such basic functionality.
We're on 8.2.2, by the way.
