Why can't I close a ticket when the permissions helper says I can?

Brendan Arnold September 11, 2020

I can't close tickets on the board - the administrator has added permissions for the board but I still don't see the option to close a ticket. I've included an example ticket to show what I see.

Hey Brendan,
please check the associated workflow if there is an action that transitions issues in your project to status Closed. If so, please check the conditions of that transition. It is possible that the configured conditions don't make use of the permission condition = Close issue but other condition types, e.g. project roles or the transition is hidden for users and can only be reached programmatically (via automation).

This is what the workflow looks like, there are no properties defined on any of the steps, nothing that relates to Closed as far as I can see.

Hey Brendan,

just to be clear. There are project permissions which work implictly, e.g. Transition Issues.
However, there are project permissions like 'Close Issues' that need to be used inside a workflow to be applied.
That means you need to configure a workflow permission condition on a workflow transition (change from one status to another) and select the Close Issue permission. If the workflow was published, only users that have been granted Close Issue permission in the affected project will see the button for that workflow transition.

Please be careful and don't confuse workflow properties with workflow (transition) conditions! ;)

So please open text mode of your workflow next find the status your issues is currently in. Next click on the transition that should move your issue into your desired target status. Now check the conditions configured for that transition.

There doesn't appear to be any transitions defined

This view only displays explicit transitions to other statuses but not global ones. Go to the admin menu workflows and open your workflow there. Use text mode instead of the workflow diagram.
