Why can I not do an @ mention

Why can I not do an @ mention

When I type in an '@', it shows up blue but then no results come up when I start typing a name. Why am I not able to use the mention functionality?

Hi @Brianna Vay ,

welcome to the Atlassian community!

In order to mention users, you should have global permission Browse users and groups'

Please ask to a JIRA Admin to check your permissions.

Also make sure you are not putting a space after the @ sign. You must type the name immediately after the @.
