Hi @Beth Richardson 

Welcome to the community.

Can you give a bit more context, the time lines is based on start and end dats or sprint dates.

Do these missing work items contain these fields and if so values?

Timeline, can only contain work items based on a filter for the space, it can't include other space work items.

Can you provide a screen image of what you are viewing? "Timeline" and "Board" may refer to two separate views of data.

If you are referring to a single view as "timeline board" it is a bit unclear what exactly you are viewing.
