Why are my closed issues editable?

I am running JIRA v7.8.0 (non-cloud).  All closed issues are editable in my Jira instance, and I don't want them to be.  The Closed Status does not have any defined properties in any of my workflows.  It is as if some global property or permission is allowing everyone to edit closed issues.  What might that be?

You should add the jira.issue.editable workflow poperty to the Closed status. You can find more info here:
