Our company uses Jira V5.0 tracking bugs and managing software project. It is convinient for us to record and push amounts of technical review, but I want to introduce Kanban or other Scrum templates to visualize the workflow. I do not find where to build the kanban board?

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I apologise for the volume of answer here, but it's not as simple as "are they supported" without giving a bit more context.

The short version is "yes, but..."

Jira 5 is old, very old, and it has a different composition to the current Server/DC systems.

Jira 7 and above, and Cloud, provide Kanban and Scrum boards with an "application" called "Jira Software" - you add that to a "core" install to get the functions that provide those two types of board.

Older versions of Jira had Kanban and Scrum boards provided by (what are now called) apps - Greenhopper was the most widely adopted one, and Atlassian acquired it and re-branded it to "Agile".  When Jira 7 arrived, they changed the app into a Jira application, and renamed it as "Software".

So, as you are on Jira 5, I think you're in the time range where Scrum and Kanban boards would be added to Jira by the Atlassian Agile app, which, for Jira 5, you'd be needing to look for "Jira Software as an app" in the marketplace archives.

This leaves you in a bad place though.

  • Your Jira is so old, I'm not sure the app is still available (it's certainly archived if it is, and I don't actually know how to get to the archives).
  • You will not be able to buy a licence for the app, it's too old.  And Jira server is going away, so you'd need to be looking for the DC version, which I don't think is available for Jira 5.
  • Your Jira is not supported, and is unsupportable.
  • Your Jira has some security issues, and you really need to address them, rather than worrying about boards.
  • Your Jira has a few bugs, which will never be fixed and patched into it.
