When will components be allowed to group across projects?

I have the same parts in multiple projects and have set them as components and would like to be able to group all part numbers and analyze number of issues for that part number regardless of the project it is in.  I can:t total components?

I think it's more "if" than "when".  I can't find any open improvement/feature issue to get this done in their Jira/Confluence.
